Position: Property Accountant

Job Summary

Reporting to Director of Accounting. The Property Accountant is responsible for day to day accounting functions and operational processes at Del Condominium Rentals Inc. This position maintains owner, tenant and head office ledgers.

The Property Accountant should have at least 2 years experience in handling full accounting cycle in property management field. The candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude and should be able to adapt to the company’s culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Executing on and supporting accounting teams for day to day accounting operations, month-end and year-end closing

2.     Liaises with other departments to resolve accounting queries

3.     Reconcile Bank accounts and manage wire transfer as required

4.     Maintaining and transferring funds between bank accounts

5.     Reconcile and prepare suite count report to Insurance providers

6.     Back up and support accounting staff and the Director of Accounting during vacation

7.     Posting journal entries including intercompany entries

8.     Reconcile & prepare credit cards reimbursement

9.     Review, process and update rent increase, last month rent application and interest calculation

10.   Prepare monthly tax returns and annual slips returns

11.   Review & reconcile prepaid expense, accrued liability, clearing accounts, accounts receivable, unearned revenue

12.   Assist in preparation of year end statement, rental receipts

13.   Liaison with CRA to apply, reconcile and close non-resident accounts

14.   Approve, process and issue payment for work orders

15.   Projections of yearly rental income and expense for VIP owners

16.   Write off past due accounts receivable accounts and ensure customers receive past due invoices and statements

17.   Update and reconcile term deposit investment report and post journal entries if necessary

18.   Maintain organized accounting filing systems, providing quick and easy access to information

19.   Ensures teams members are cross-trained to support successful daily operations

20.   Ensure vendors and customers have best possible experience by trouble shooting and resolving all invoice and billing related disputes

21.   Ensure compliance with all appropriate and required standard operating procedures (SOPs)

22.   Monitors systems to ensure accuracy of data

23.   Verify recorded transactions and report irregularities to managment

24.   Recommend, document and maintain accounting poilicies and procedures

25.   Protects organizations’s value by keeping information confidential

26.   Undertake specific duties or projects as required by Director of Accounting or Senior Property Accountants

 

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in property management field
2. High degree of accuracy, extremely detail-oriented

3. Candidate must be mature, team player and willing to roll up their sleeves
4. Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is required

5. Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
6. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
