Frequently Asked Questions

Is the toilet running, clogged, or not flushing properly?

  • Check whether the toilet is clogged or just running continuously.
  • If it is clogged, use a plunger first and avoid flushing repeatedly, as this can cause overflow.
  • If the toilet keeps running, inspect the flapper and chain inside the tank to see if they are stuck or not sealing properly.
  • If water is backing up, leaking at the base, or the issue keeps returning, a plumber should be dispatched.

Is the sink, tub, or shower draining slowly?

  • Remove any visible hair, soap buildup, or debris from the drain opening.
  • Check whether the issue is affecting only one fixture or multiple drains in the unit.
  • Avoid using harsh drain chemicals unless approved, as they may damage pipes or fixtures.
  • If water is backing up or more than one drain is slow, a plumber may be needed to check for a deeper blockage.

Is there a leak under the sink or around a plumbing fixture?

  • Check whether the leak is coming from the supply lines, the drain pipe, the shut-off valve, or the faucet connection.
  • Wipe the area dry and monitor where the water reappears to help identify the source.
  • Tighten any visibly loose connections if it is safe to do so.
  • If the leak continues or there is active dripping that could damage cabinets, walls, or flooring, a plumber should be dispatched.

Is the smoke detector or carbon monoxide alarm beeping?

  • Check whether the unit needs a battery replacement or is giving an end-of-life warning.
  • If the alarm is chirping intermittently, replacing the battery may resolve the issue.
  • If the alarm is sounding continuously or there are signs of smoke, gas, or another emergency, contact emergency services immediately.
  • If the detector continues to malfunction after the battery is replaced, a vendor should be dispatched.

Is the heating or air conditioning not working properly?

  • Check the thermostat settings first to make sure the system is set correctly.
  • Confirm that the breaker has not tripped and that the unit has power.
  • Inspect the filter if accessible, as a dirty filter can restrict airflow and affect performance.
  • If the system is not turning on, or is running without heating or cooling properly, an HVAC technician may be needed.
